WALKERS, RUNNERS of all abilities, and ANIMAL LOVERS!  Join us for our celebration of National Help-A-Horse Day and  participate in the 6th Annual “Run for the Rescue” to raise funds for the care of the horses of  Peacefield, and to raise awareness of the issue of unwanted, abused and neglected horses in the Wabash Valley!

 The out-and-back 5k course:  The 5k race/fitness walk begins & ends at Peacefield (9811 East Davis Ave. Terre Haute, IN 47805).  Runners and walkers will head west on Davis to Main, then south on Main to Grotto, turn around past the Vigo County Conservation Club (corner of Grotto and Randall), then head back to the finish at Peacefield.  Water will be available at the turn-around area.   All kilometers are clearly posted on this accurate and moderately challenging course.  The streets are not closed to traffic, but will be well marked for safety. 

5K Pre-registration options

  • PRE-REGISTRATION is highly recommended to ensure a T-shirt and a discount on fees. Enter online or print and mail your entry to Run for the Rescue, 9811 E Davis Ave, Terre Haute, IN 47805. Please make checks payable to Peacefield Equine Sanctuary.

  • Race day registration: You may register on race day from 2:45-3:45 p.m. at the rescue, but please note that the fee goes up by $5 per person, and T-shirt sizes may be limited.

  • Packet pickup for all pre-registrants: will be held from 2:45-3:45 p.m. at the rescue. All waivers will be signed at packet pickup. If you want to pick up your packet early, call and inquire.

Prizes:  All entrants will receive a well-stocked goody bag and delicious post-race refreshments donated by our very generous sponsors.  Awards will be presented at approx. 5:30 p.m. to the top two male and female finishers in each age group in the 5k run.  No awards will be presented for walkers, but all walk entrants are eligible for prize drawings during the award ceremony.  T-shirts are given to all pre-registered entrants and while supplies last to race day entrants. 

5K Run Age Groups (male and female):  12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ 

Create a Team to raise more support for Peacefield!
Bring a few of your friends with you, or encourage your friends to race “virtually” to raise more funds for Run for the Rescue.  A horse will be assigned to your team and you will be able to visit with the horse before the race during our Open House.  The team that raises the most money will win for each of their members a Peacefield keychain or bracelet.  Call or email Elizabeth Lorenzen to register for this portion of our day of events. 

Children’s Steeplechase
Weather permitting (no rain or extreme mud), we will offer a children’s “Steeplechase” event for kids 8 and under in the pasture at 5 p.m.  The kids will be able to run an approximate 200 yard loop which includes low jumps and various horse-related obstacles.  Each child will receive a ribbon at the finish, and an inflatable stick horse to take home.  Parents are welcome to accompany their children.

Children’s Steeplechase is free to children of race participants, and $10 otherwise.
